Biography

Daniel Buades is a Spanish drummer, percussionist, and composer whose career is rooted in contemporary jazz and improvised music. Known for a versatile and evolving sound, Daniel combines the technical discipline of classical percussion with the creative openness of jazz, resulting in a personal voice that balances rhythmic detail with expressive energy. His performances have taken him to renowned venues and festivals, including JAZZMADRID, CLAZZ Continental Latin Jazz, Teatro Fernán Gómez, and Café El Despertar, establishing him as a promising presence in the Spanish jazz scene. He is currently an official endorser of Mapex Drums Spain.

Daniel’s musical journey began in Madrid with a foundation in classical percussion at CIEM Federico Moreno Torroba, where he graduated with an Honor Mention. He went on to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance and Contemporary Music at the Centro Superior de Música Creativa (2020–2024). His artistic growth has been shaped by mentors such as Naima Acuña, Moisés Sánchez, David Sancho, Álvaro del Valle, and Daniel Juárez, along with masterclasses and workshops by international figures like Paul Wertico, Pepe Rivero, Jorge Pardo and Or Bareket.

Throughout his career, Daniel has collected notable achievements. In 2019, he won Second Prize at the Concursarte Soloists and Orchestra Competition, and in 2016, he contributed to the First Prize awarded to Banda Sinfónica La Lira de Pozuelo at the Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Música in Valencia. Beyond jazz, his versatility has led him to collaborations in pop, pop-rock, indie, urban and experimental music. As a marimbist, he recorded the debut album of the Pacífico Progresivo Project in 2021, reflecting his ongoing interest in exploring diverse sonic landscapes.

Most recently, Daniel has been active in collaborations with Anders Boye, Álvaro del Valle, and Daniel Juárez, projects that highlight his openness to dialogue across musical traditions. At the same time, he is developing his own creative projects with an international perspective, seeking to expand his personal sound while engaging in cross-cultural collaborations. With a unique combination of tradition and innovation, Daniel’s music aims to transcend boundaries, offering a vision that is both deeply personal and globally connected.
